It's Been 3 Years...

 Today is March 3, 2026.  I'm a little late in making any comments on this blog and I really don't have a good excuse.

It's been 3 years since Kathy passed.  Whoever coined the phrase, "Time heals all wounds" Is demented. 

I still miss my wife, her company, her face and her love.  I say goodnight to her every night.  I can tell anyone who reads this that it DOES NOT get any easier when your spouse dies especially for seniors. I'm 73 years old.  I miss my dog, MuMu who also got the cancer and we had to put her down just months before Kathy was diagnosed with Leukemia. 

I know her grand kids and her son miss her a lot as well.  The kids have gotten older so they have other things to do with their free time.  Nellie is 16, driving a car, working at night a What-a-Burger.  Ebin is 15, taller than me and is getting his permit to learn to drive in a few months and Declan is growing like a weed.  I think he's 13?    

Well, I'm still alive anyway!  Now I need to go and do laundry today. Sigh.

Time Heals All Wounds?

 Time heals all wounds.  That's what they say right?  It's been 2 years today that my wife passed.  

I'm still struggling.  I miss her company, her anger ( family called her "The angry Hungarian) which only lasted for a minute or two then she was back to normal. :)  In the 23 years we were together we NEVER went to bed angry with one another.  If we had an argument (never an actual fight) we kissed and made up quickly.  Hey, my ex-wife would not even talk to me for days.  Kathy was such a easy person to be married to. Mostly.

I still miss you baby!  Always will.

And I still love you.  Always will.

It's Been a Year and I Still Miss You!

On the 25th of this month it will have been a year since I lost you to cancer.  

• I still tear up when I think of you.
• I still occasionally reach for you when I'm in bed.
• I will always miss you!
• I still talk to you when I feel the need to.
• I still hate doing laundry.
• I still don't like to go to the grocery store.
• It's VERY hard for me to have the grand kids spend the night on an occasional weekend.  I just can't keep up.  I'm sorry for that Kathy. I know all you wanted in our life here in TN was to watch your grand kids grow up.  You never got the chance.  

I still love you my little "angry Hungarian."

I Miss You So Much!

 It's been 7 months since Kathy passed and went to the Rainbow Bridge. It's been terribly lonely without her.   There is NO doubt that for weeks Kathy was hanging around the house!  I could feel her presence. Banging noises on the walls, chill in the air in the middle of the night, and PHYSICAL contact when I was laying in bed.  I was laying in bed on me back had my legs crossed one night and suddenly something slapped my foot and knocked it right off my other foot!  It scared the crap out of me, but I just called out to Kathy, told her hoe much I miss her and how much I loved her - but she was scaring me to death!  After that, things got calmer at night and I could finally get a decent night sleep.  I swear - I'm telling the truth!

I try to remember to talk to her everyday to keep her posted of what life is "down here."  It's a crazy mixed up world nowdays and she's not missing much!  Justin and his family miss Kathy a lot too - but not as mch as I do.  It's been 7 months and I still cry when I think of her.  I still call out her name in the middle of the night when I think of her...

My Wife, Kathy Burnett Has Passed Away 2-25-2023

 The worst thing in my life happened on 2-25-2023.  My friend and my wife of 23 years dies in her sleep after a 5 month long battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.. I fkn hate cancer.  One week Kathy's walking the neighborhood for an hour and the next she getting a blood sample because her arms & legs were getting spots on them kind of like small bruises.  Kathy thinks it's hives and I think it's something else so we get a quick blood sample at a close by Urgent Care office.

It's Leukemia the doctors say. So I put her in my car and rushed her to our local hospital.  More blood samples confirm the 1st test and the local hospital doesn't treatment for Leukemia. We find a "bed" for Kathy's treatment and rush from Knoxville to the Sarah Cannon Center in Nashville, TN because it was the only place that could treat her immediately.

Ten days later and after aggressive chemo treatment Kathy had to be put on a ventilator because the chemo almost killer her. After 4 weeks in the hospital they sent us home to Knoxville because "there was nothing more they could do."

My wife was terminal.  We  got 4 more months of her which is in itself a miracle because they gave her 2 days - to 2 weeks when we left Nashville.  Watching your loved one die slowly die is absolute misery.  In our case, the treatment was worse than the "cure."  

I love you and miss you my darling!

RIP Mumu 5-17-2022

 Our beloved pet, Mumu has passed and is waiting for us at the rainbow bridge.  We adopted her 10 yeaars ago and we believe she was about 13 years old.  I miss her everyday.  She was one of the smartest  dogs I've ever owned.  She would never run away from us, she seemed to know exactly where our property lines were at our cabin in GA and in our new home in TN. Heck - we didn't even have to put up a fence!  She would sit outside with, get a little sun bathing in and look over the houses below us.  When she needed to potty we could just let her out and she always came right back into the house.  We loved you Mumu!  You are terribly missed.

Inflation Is Killing US!

 Since Biden took over there has been a 30% inflation of food, services, etc.  Food shortages are getting worse.  Every time we go to the store we come hone with 5-6 items still on our grocery list because it wasn't available.  Cream cheese, some cheeses, Fritos, chicken wings, etc.  Steak is $20 a lb now, chicken wings cost a fortune.

When Will It Stop?

 1-24-2022.  The world is still wearing masks.  People are still dying,  but NOT so much from COVID-19 but from a 3rd variant named omnicom.  I has flu like symptoms, lasts only a few days with a low grade fever.  It IS however a Covid virus.

I'm getting so sick of all this crap... and so is the rest of the country.  CA, WA, NY residents still have to wear masks!  TN residents do not HAVE to wear masks, but some people still do.  We have so afr been able to stay healthy, but everyone around us has caught omnicom, including family.  Haven't seen grand kids or kids for 3 weeks.

Illegal immigrates flock across our borders, Biden orders ALL of them released WITHOUT TESTING FOR THE COVID VIRUS.  ALL OF THEM ON WELFARE. 

Restaurants unable to open because they can't find workers to fill positions!  Unemployment benefits are $750 a WEEK.  Who wants to work and earn LESS than being on unemployment?

Lumber costs up 300% adding an additional cost of $32,000 to the average sized home across the country.

Gasoline costs about $1.00 more per gallon than last year at this time.

Inflation warnings being announced for everywhere.  Stock up on toilet paper again?

People testing positive for Covid even AFTER getting the so called "magic" vaccine.  WTF??

We decided NOT to get vaccinated.  Too many unknowns.

This country is going to hell in a hand bag as my Daddy used to say.  Sigh.

Sold The Cabin, Covid Still a PIA

 Well, we sold the cabin in Cleveland.  Started at $105K, got no action from several showings so we lowered the price to $99.9K and got an offer of $90K.  Settled at $94,300.  Lost about $23,000 over a 4 year period after counting all the remodeling we did.  We really had no plans to sell, but the Covid got the best of us AND the park has had a complete turn-over and some of the new people were just dorks.  Time to move.  So here we are in Knoxville, TN.

Benefits of the Covid?

 So after a YEAR of all this pandemic shit I have come to realize that there IS a benefit to this mess.

1. I don't have to be close to people.  People don't want to be close to me.

2. Going out to eat is a joke.  Restaurants  are operating at half capacity at their BEST and the food sucks.  We went to a Ruby Tuesday's and the salad bar was nasty, they were out of french fries AND baked potatoes!  Offered me tater tots.  Tater tots?  Really?  I'll pass.  Just give me a freaking plate of salad and a burger.  I'll NOT be back.

3. The BEST thing is I can wear sweat pants, a ratty T-shirt, a cap and flip flops ANYWHERE!  Because I have a mask on, NO ONE knows who I am!  NO ONE even knows if I have shaved this week.  It's GREAT!  Even Kathy loves this part of it.  No make-up required, put a cap on the head and NO ONE knows if she did (or if I did) our hair.  Hell, you can get right out of bed, slap a cap on, grab a mask, get dressed and go to the grocery store!  So convenient!

More Covid Deaths (268K) and we have moved to TN.

 First - we moved to TN.  We got tired of living in a little cabin, the people (ambience) at PVC changed because of so many new tenants that we no longer were having any fun.  Especially being literally trapped at the cabin because of Covid.  So an opportunity presented itself to us on a cute 3/2 brand new home and we jumped on it.  Move in date was 11-11-2020.  Kathy loves being close to the grand kids and we both love having more than one choice for pizza, hamburgers, Mexican food, etc.  Back in a bigger city!

On the down side, the Covid continues to wreak havoc on the world. 

Several states continue lock down as winter moves in and people are really starting to freak out as MILLIONS of people lose unemployment benefits and banks start repossessing homes and businesses.  It sucks and I'm scared.  Nothing I can do about it though.

 President Trump lost the re-election to Bidden.  Can't wait to see how the next 4 years turn out as America starts it's slow journey towards socialism. We're screwed.

Going Backwards - 143,000 Dead

Covid 19 stats as of 7-20-2020

We're going backwards.  FL, NY, WA, TX have gone back into a "lock down" state.  NO eating INSIDE restaurants or bars.   The crazy NY & CA governors have made the wearing of face masks mandatory whenever you step out side.  Fuckin nuts.

I've put on 10 pounds since March and am a super fat ass now.  On the positive side, I HAVE managed to quit smoking for the last 4 weeks.  The smoking was literally taking my breath away from me so it was time, after 50 years of smoking, to quit.

Justin Howe and family bought and closed on a new home in Powell, TN.   Unfortunately 4 DAYS after they closed, Ashley got laid off from her "new" job and a place in Knoxville.  It's bee almost 3 weeks now and we still haven't heard any news if Ashley is employed.  I'm a little worried for them.  Kathy and I cannot afford to help them with any house payments now because our income has been drastically reduced over the last 2 years and we'd hate to see them loose their home in the 1st couple of months of living there.  

Anyway - everything is till fucked up.  We're still in a shelter-in-place in our cabin.  We've been to ONE restaurant in the last YEAR.   Cooking at home is getting boring now too.   

Now we wait.  Im my opinion, we haven't seen the worst of the effects of this pandemic.  

The World IS Going CRAZY! 117K Deaths as of June 15 2020

Total Covid-19 cases as of 6-15-2020:

Every state has "relaxed" the closures of restaurants and other businesses,  but people are NOT keeping a social distance as recommended ( 6 ft apart) and there seems to be a resurange of Covid cases.  We still don't feel comfortable being around a large group of people here where we are so we are avoiding the 4pm porch parties and group visits to Big Daddy's for Taco Night.

On top of THAT, Antifa and Black Lives Matter have been burning down downtown areas because of the death of a black man, George Floyd who was KILLED by a white cop after the cop had his knee on his neck for 8 1/2 minutes.  The cop is being charged with murder.   

Major cities are calling for the "defunding" of police departments across the country.  Antifa has taken control of downtown Minneapolis, calling it a country separate from the U.S.   Fkn CRAZY!

The world is coming to an end. 

5-18-2020 - 90,263 dead

Things are starting to get back together now.  Restaurants are allowed to serve inside with a 25% or so capacity.  A lot of places have set up outside tables to add extra seating.

But that's NOT the news!  People across the country are starting to protest, revolt - whatever you want to call it against the totalitarian control some governors have implementing in their states.  NY is still in lock down and the idiot governor of CA has stated that people HAVE to wear masks until there is a vaccine.  And that may take 1-2 years.  Even the lib tards in Hollywood are starting to turn against the local government!  HAHAHA.

5-5-2020 - 72,023 dead. Is this the end?

The date is 5/6/2020.  I'm beginning to think that America is pretty much screwed for the next few years.  Here in Georgia and other states, things started to open back up - on a limited basis.  Drive though fast food is available ( the lines are ALWAYS long now), some restaurants are trying to survive by offering take out service.  Delivery service in major cities are doing well, but is literally non-existent where we live because we're in the country.  Too far from everything. 

Restaurants that DO have dine in available ( only in a few sates as of this date - NOT in GA at the present time) can only operate at 25% capacity.   How in the hell can a business owner survive being only allowed to serve 25% of their normal customers?  They can't.  I don't see a good ending to any of this at all.

The stores finally have toilet paper on the shelves again, but now there are rumors of a coming beef and pork shortage because several major meat processing plant have closed because of infected workers.   It's crazy!

We had to take our dog, MuMu to the vet yesterday as she had what appeared to be a "hot spot" but it wouldn't go away after 2 weeks of medication.  The process was to drive to the vet, park in the lot, call the office and someone from inside would come out to your car, take the dog in to see the Vet, and bring her back out when done with the exam.

Want to fly somewhere?  Your going to have to wear a mask the entire flight.  Oh yeah - no one sits in the middle seat either so your ticket is going to cost a little more to make up for the vacant seat.  Close to $100 more.  Each way.

Chicago, Dallas, NYC ALL are arresting people for opening their business early... without government approval.   Mayors think they're dictators.  FK.

Coronavirus 4-22-2020 45,373 dead

People are still getting sick, but it seems to be slowing down in most of the states.  Georgia, and a few other states are going to relax some of the "shelter in place" requirements this coming Friday, 4-24-2020.  Not sure which businesses will be open, or how many restaurants will open at this time.  We'll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, we are REALLY getting cabin sickness!  Nothing to do, nowhere to go.  The campground is empty of the normal season visiters.

The president is now talking about slowly letting businesses re-open across the country starting on May 1, 2020.  Ultimate decision is up to the governor of each state though.  Kathy has only been out of the park once in 5 weeks and we are both getting a little stir crazy I think!  This sucks!

Coronavirus-19 4-8-2020 12,905 dead.

The entire country has been shut down.  Literally.  Governors from most states have issued a "shelter in place" order which means you can only leave your home for food, medical reasons or if you are still working. 

EVERY sit-down restaurant in the country is closed.  One can only get take out orders if the place is still open.  The lines at fast food places are long, lines at banks are long, etc.  It's a mess.

There are MILLIONS of people out of work, especially the food service industry.  Central Park in NYC has emergency medical tents set up in it, Navy air craft carrier, the USS Roosevelt,  has infected sailors on board.  No one knows when this will end.

Most people are afraid of the economic impact this will have not only in the USA, but globally.

Kathy & I are safe and sound in our little cabin.  We have emergency food which we haven't had to need for as of yet, we have income ( pension and SSN checks) .  Kathy hasn't left the cabin in 4 weeks as there's no need for BOTH of us to expose ourselves to a possible infection.  I am the one who goes and gets the groceries and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Just about the entire country is now shut down.  In Cleveland, Helen and surrounding towns ALL restaurants are closed to "in dining" eating and are only providing take out service.   Toilet paper is still scarce, but I managed to score a 24 pack from Amazon this week.  Crazy that I'm excited about finding freaking toilet paper right?  Sigh.

CA and FL are in completed lock down.  The governor of CA has ordered people to stay in their houses.  Yeah, right.  Good luck CA!  hate that state and I was born and raised there.

All we have done in the last 14 days is go to the grocery store.  Sometimes they have what's on my list and sometimes they don't.  It's a crap shoot at best.
